Finding your roots

A Curiosity Can Turn Into an Obsession

One day as my wife and I were shopping at our local warehouse store, I became intrigued by the then latest version of Family Tree Maker, version 7. On a lark, I bought it.

I started entering family data from memory. I interviewed my wife and her mother for her side. Then I went to my dad. By this time, I had about 400 names. He was immediately fascinated. He sat with me and began to help me add more names. I met with him a couple of times to add more and more data.

One day after work I stopped by his house to visit. He told me that he had bought a laptop from a home shopping channel. He wanted to take over the family tree project. That was about 6 years and 2 laptops ago. He now has over 80,000 names in his tree.

He has just ordered Family Tree Maker 2006 and can hardly wait.

Check it out now.
